Winter School Games Success

‘The games provided a fantastic competitive experience whilst still keeping the fun and spirit of sport alive.’ - Drew Nicholson, Access Sport coach

Yesterday Access Sport hosted the inclusive sports section of the Winter School Games, which was delivered to seven local secondary schools. The games consisted of Boccia, Polybat and Sitting Volleyball.

Over sixty students participated in the games and many were taking part in at least one sport for the first time, giving them some new activities to take back to their schools. Throughout the day teamwork, respect and good sportsmanship were demonstrated by all and the young leaders from St Brendan’s and SGS College helped to create a positive atmosphere from the start.

The games were a great opportunity to display all of the inclusive opportunities that Access Sport provide through the Ignite programme. With more than twelve clubs all over Bristol, Access Sport hopes to see many of the students from the Winter School Games continuing to participate and obtain the benefits that sport provides.

‘I have been really impressed with how well it has been organised, each sporting station was really clear and fun.' - School teacher
